REACH
Please find here an overview of the activities relevant to the REACH Libraries carried out by industry associations (updated February 2010). This table provides a summary of the work done by associations and the contact details of these associations. Should you be interested in contributing or getting more information on a particular sector, please contact the relevant industry association. Should you wish to inform Cefic on the activities of your association in this regard, please contact Sophie Liebersens. • Risk Management Measures (RMM):
This RMM library was developed in the context of the preparation of the ECHA Guidance on Chemical Safety Assessment. Information provided in the various worksheets can be used to specify RMMs chosen to eliminate/minimize exposure to hazardous substances. More specific RMM for different industry sectors are currently under preparation and will be available soon.
• Generic Exposure Scenarios (GES): The use of GES is Cefic’s recommended way to develop Exposure Scenarios. Here you will find available GES which have been developed by Manufacturers and Downstream Users associations. (soon available). Please check the overview above, and contact relevant sector association(s) for more information on the GES for a particular sector • Standard phrases: The European Phrases Catalogue facilitates the completion of extended Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and standarises the communication in the supply chain providing a unique structure as basis for the electronic data exchange of safety data sheets. The current European Standard Phrases Catalogue has been developed by BDI/BusinessEurope and is available for free in German and English. Other languages are available upon request via a cooperation partner of the working group (currently 30 languages). The Catalogue may be used for the main body of the SDS as well as for sector-specific standard phrases and phrases for the Exposure Scenarios. • Use (Descriptor) Mapping: The purpose of the use descriptors is to facilitate communication on uses up and down the supply chain, facilitate consistency between brief general description of uses and the short titles of exposure scenarios and finally to provide a link between description of use and TIER 1 exposure estimation. The Use (Descriptor) Mapping Library should support the above given activities by making the current work of the industry associations transparent and available. More specific Use (Descriptor) Mapping exercises from different industry sectors are under preparation and will be available soon. Please check the overview above, and contact relevant sector association(s) for more information on the Use (Descriptor) mapping for a particular sector. |
